It's nice to see that the anime is taking time to build up the relationship between the characters, the manga doesn't show much of the interaction between the two and out of nowhere they show that himawari has bonded with kawaki

they leave the missing piece for the animators to work on, kinda like manga is a blueprint

So that's why it felt like this was a filler episode and I like the the idea of kawaki and himawari bonding

It's not just because they weren't "drawn" which is btw very dumb since all these frames are drawn. It's because it's a total waste of time because they aren't canon. You can bullshit your way through saying that the anime is supervised by one of the writers or whatever even though the anime and manga are so different but one thing can never change, when the writer writes the manga he's not gonna include any of "development" or anime's events. It's non-canon which means it doesn't matter. As simple as that. A filler.

Also not to mention that the events are already boring even without another boring filler to slow it all down so...yeah.

The Mist Arc is canon you moron. It's in a novel before it was even adapted to anime. Anime and Manga are literally light years apart so much that it's almost different timelines and it's obvious.

From a strictly anime watcher's point of view, it really doesn't matter that much. As long as it's entertaining and fits in with the story, fillers aren't that bad. Although, there are some fillers that feels like watching paint drying. Those suck monkey nuts

On the way to ones destination one might come across a flower, some people just dont care, others might stop,. in other words if you dont like it you dont need to watch it These episodes have their own charm and even though they do nothing for the main story they can sometimes be a welcome distraction. You can pretty much google wich episodes are relevant and simple skip the others, yet you took the time to write this comment well i for one liked this episode though i know it is called "Anime canon" Any potential fans of himawari will cherish this episode, cause otherwise this wouldnt happen and btw no story is perfect from the start, by adding something like this you can give more depth to it and as mangaka you dont always think of these little things when writing
